In our FREE monthly online Newsletters (sign up at top of this page, free) we cover a range of research stories, most of which are featured here on the website, but some are mentioned – as Latest News – and not covered in detail on site.
To make up for this here are some of the news snippets from the recent months.
Here are some research stories on CAM and Diabetes:
Diabetes; How Insulin Works?
A research team has discovered how molecules of insulin bind to a protein on the cells of the body, process that scientists have been trying to solve for two decades.
Diabetes; Detoxing Your Gut Can Help You Avoid Type 2 Diabetes
Two separate studies in different areas of the world have come to similar conclusions: An imbalance of the gut’s intestinal flora can be a precursor to Type 2 diabetes. These were mainstream medical studies, one in China and the other in Denmark.
The focus was not on detoxification. They seem to be more concerned with using the gut imbalance of beneficial and pathogenic bacteria as markers to determine early diagnoses of onset diabetes 2, probably for prescribing pharmaceuticals earlier.
Diabetes; Vegetables and PUFA-rich Plant Oil and Type 2 Diabetes
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a healthy diet on DNA oxidation in diabetics and nondiabetics and the study provides evidence that a healthy diet rich in antioxidants reduces levels of DNA strand breaks in diabetic individuals.
Diabetes and Stem Cells
Research has shown the presence of a disease affecting small blood vessels, known as microangiopathy, in the bone marrow of diabetic patients.
Results from this study highlight an important deficit in stem cells and supporting microenvironment that can reduce stem cells’ therapeutic potential in diabetic patients.
Diabetes; Alpha-lipoic Acid Improves Blood Sugar Control in Diabetics
A new double-blind controlled study suggests that alpha lipoic acid supplementation may benefit patients with type 2 diabetes (1). Type 2 diabetes is the more common form of the condition, accounting for around 90% of diabetes sufferers.
